The Adwumawura Programme, launched in April 2025 as a flagship initiative of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, is redefining entrepreneurship and innovation by supporting Ghana’s youth to create sustainable businesses. The programme is led by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), under the leadership of Mr. Eric Adjei, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, headed by Hon. George Opare Addo.
Today, at the onboarding and orientation event at the University of Ghana, I mentioned that this bold initiative seeks to support 10,000 youth-owned businesses. For the maiden cohort, over 100,000 applications were received, with 10,000 youth entrepreneurs selected through a transparent process overseen by representatives from respected institutions in Government, academia, the private sector, and our development partners.
Special recognition was given to hub trainers, development partners, and the selection committee, whose contributions have been pivotal to the initiative.

The Adwumawura Programme gives more than funding and training. It sets out to create an environment where the discipline, focus, honesty, and resilience of our entrepreneurs will drive sustainable development. I reminded beneficiaries that while this opportunity offers support, the responsibility to succeed lies in their commitment and ethics.
I was pleased to stress that Ghanaian youth are not waiting for tomorrow; they are leading today. As the pioneers of this programme, the first cohort is responsible for setting high standards and proving that, with the right support, young people in Ghana are capable of building a vibrant, innovative, and sustainable economy.
