Isham Alhassan Yaw Bonsu, the Ashanti Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has confirmed his intention to contest the party’s upcoming election for Ashanti Regional Chairman.
In a communique issued to party executives, delegates and supporters across the region on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Bonsu said he had collected the nomination forms required to enter the contest.
The incumbent Regional Organiser said his decision was motivated by a desire to strengthen the NDC’s grassroots structures in the Ashanti Region, rather than by personal ambition.

He credited the combined efforts of party members with helping the NDC return to power and said he remained appreciative of the role supporters had played during his tenure.
