Manchester City are expected to complete the signing of Palmeiras winger Allan after agreeing terms with the Brazilian club, according to reports.
The deal for the 22-year-old is worth a potential €40m. City will pay €37.5m in guaranteed fees, while a further €2.5m could be added if the agreed performance-related conditions are met.
Allan is due to travel to England to complete the remaining formalities of the move, which would see him join the Premier League champions after establishing himself in Palmeiras’ first team.
The winger progressed through Palmeiras’ academy and has already made 96 senior appearances for the club, despite his relatively young age. He has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists during that time.
Palmeiras had initially been reluctant to allow Allan to leave during the current transfer window. Negotiations continued before the two clubs reached an agreement, paving the way for the Brazilian’s move to Manchester.
Allan’s arrival would give City another option on the wings as the club adjusts its attacking choices.
Savinho has left Manchester City to join Tottenham, with the London club reportedly willing to pay a significant fee for the Brazil winger. Allan has since been identified as a possible replacement for his compatriot.
The contrasting transfer fees would produce a sizeable financial difference for City if both deals are completed on the reported terms.
Savinho is reportedly being sold for €87.5m, with a further €11.7m available in potential add-ons. By comparison, Allan’s transfer is understood to involve an initial €37.5m payment and a possible additional €2.5m.
That would give Manchester City a guaranteed difference of €50m between the two transfers. The eventual gap could change depending on whether the add-ons in either agreement are activated.
Allan’s proposed move would become City’s sixth signing of the summer, adding further depth to a squad preparing for another Premier League campaign.
The agreement marks the conclusion of a negotiation process in which Palmeiras had sought to retain a player who had become an established part of its senior side. Allan’s record of 96 appearances, nine goals and 12 assists underlines the contribution he has made since progressing from the club’s youth system.
City must now complete the final stages of the transfer before the move can be formally confirmed. If completed, Allan will follow Savinho out of Palmeiras’ orbit, but in the opposite direction, with the Brazilian winger set to continue his career in England.
