Hansi Flick warns Barcelona to expect ‘very difficult’ Galatasaray test

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has told his players they must stay focused for a demanding UEFA Champions League Matchday Two meeting with Galatasaray in Istanbul on Tuesday, October 13.

Barcelona began their European campaign with a convincing 5-1 win against Feyenoord and will travel to Turkey hoping to build on that result.

Flick has been encouraged by the team’s work in training and says the positive atmosphere within the squad has helped produce strong performances. However, he expects Galatasaray to present a very different challenge, particularly because of the intense environment likely to greet Barcelona at the home ground of the Turkish club.

“Every game is different, every game starts with 0-0. So also tomorrow, it’s not an easy game for us. It’s a very difficult game for us, and we have to show it,” Flick said.

The German manager also warned his players that football can change quickly. He stressed the importance of maintaining the same level of concentration and preparation they have shown previously.

“It’s a privilege to be there at the moment, but we know also that in football it can change very fast, so we have to be focused, like we normally do, and this is what I want to see from my team,” he added.

Galatasaray will be looking to recover from a 3-1 defeat by Sporting CP in their opening fixture. Barcelona, meanwhile, will aim to preserve their winning start to the competition despite the difficult conditions expected in Istanbul.
