Christopher Bonsu Baah provided an assist but could not help Al Qadsiah secure victory as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Pakhtakor FC in the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday.
The 21-year-old Ghanaian winger created the opening goal in the 35th minute, supplying Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who finished to put the Saudi Arabian side ahead.
Al Qadsiah held their lead for most of the match and appeared on course to claim all three points. However, Pakhtakor were awarded a late penalty following a video assistant referee (VAR) review in the 87th minute.
Dostonbek Khamdamov converted the resulting spot-kick in the 89th minute to earn the Uzbekistan club a share of the points.
Bonsu Baah continued to provide an attacking outlet from the flank before being replaced in the 80th minute by Suleman Sani, with Al Qadsiah attempting to protect their narrow advantage.
The equaliser came after the Ghana international had left the field, denying his side a win despite their strong position deep into the second half.
The assist extended Bonsu Baah’s productive start to the 2026/27 campaign. He has now contributed to seven goals in 11 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and supplying five assists.
His involvement against Pakhtakor followed his first goal of the season in Al Qadsiah’s emphatic 5-0 league victory over Al-Kholood.
Bonsu Baah’s vision was central to the opening goal, as he created the opportunity for Reijnders to give the visitors the advantage. He remained a threat as Al Qadsiah sought to increase their lead, but Pakhtakor’s late response prevented them from converting their dominance into a victory.
Khamdamov’s penalty ensured the contest finished 1-1, leaving Al Qadsiah to settle for a point after conceding so late in the match.
Despite the disappointing result, the latest contribution adds to Bonsu Baah’s growing influence in the team’s attack. His record of two goals and five assists underlines his role in Al Qadsiah’s attacking output during the opening stages of the season.
The Saudi Arabian side are scheduled to return to domestic action on Friday, 16 October, when they host Abha Club.
Bonsu Baah will hope to carry his current form into that fixture after scoring against Al-Kholood and assisting in the draw with Pakhtakor. Al Qadsiah will also aim to respond after missing out on victory in their continental encounter.
