It is a day set aside to help control the population growth when the fifth billionth child Matej Gasper from Croatia was born in 1987.
It was declared by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Current global statistics show the population strength as eight point two billion (8.2b).
According to the UN Secretary General, the population trend has now changed with the males being the majority with the total figure of four point one four (4.14bn) billion(4,137,709,238) representing 50.27 percent, while the females are four point zero nine billion (4.09bn) (4,093,903,832) representing 49.73 percent.

The least populated country is Republic of Molossia,located in Dayton Nevada in USA with only 33 people and having a president called Kevin Baugh.
