Steven Nufour leaves Criciuma as Ghanaian midfielder becomes unattached

Ghanaian defensive midfielder Steven Nufour has left Criciuma and is now without a club after completing his departure from the Brazilian side on 19 August 2026.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Accra, spent the previous season with Criciuma after moving into the club’s senior squad from Criciuma Under-20s at the start of 2026. His exit brings an end to his time with the club, which began when he joined its youth set-up from Ceara Under-20s in February 2025.

Nufour made one appearance in Brazil’s Serie B during his time with Criciuma, playing one minute. He also featured in the CBF Brasileiro Under-20 competition, making nine appearances and playing 498 minutes.

His record in Brazilian football includes appearances in the Copinha, Copa do Nordeste and Campeonato Catarinense. He played three matches in the Copinha, three in the Copa do Nordeste and two in the Campeonato Catarinense.

Nufour began his Brazilian spell after leaving Ghanaian club Dansoman Wise for Ceara Under-20s in July 2023. He subsequently joined Criciuma Under-20s on a free transfer in February 2025 before stepping up to the senior side the following year.

A right-footed midfielder, Nufour is listed at 1.91m and operates primarily in the defensive midfield position. His departure from Criciuma was recorded on 19 August, ending his latest club association.

Nufour has therefore left Criciuma and is without a club following the completed move.
