Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. John Dumelo, has cautioned schools against using farming as a form of punishment, warning that such practices could discourage students from developing interest in agriculture.
The Deputy Minister, who visited Ahafoman SHS and Mim Senior High School in the Ahafo Region on Wednesday, August 27, to inspect school farms, said government is committed to supporting schools with logistics and farm inputs to boost agricultural activities.
He encouraged schools to expand their farms not only to feed themselves but also to sell surplus produce to their surrounding communities.
