Former Ghana youth coach Karim Zito has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to place greater trust in home-grown coaches as it looks for a new manager for the Black Stars.
Ghana have been without a substantive head coach since Carlos Queiroz left the role. The GFA has appointed a Committee to identify suitable candidates and recommend a successor.
Zito believes appointing a Ghanaian coach could reduce the cost of leading the national team while still providing the commitment required to deliver success.

Speaking to Akoma FM, he said Ghana should follow the example of Senegal by developing and supporting its own coaching talent.
“Build us, just as Senegal did. Have confidence in your own people, and it will help reduce your financial burden. I cannot charge Ghana the way a foreign coach would, but a local coach will work with all his heart and commitment to achieve success. We, local coaches, don’t look at money; we look at achievement.”
The former youth coach said investment in Ghanaian coaches would provide a longer-term solution and ease the financial demands involved in appointing overseas managers.
“So, when you are able to build your own, it helps lessen your financial burden. When they take that into consideration, it is a good thing.”
The GFA’s search Committee is expected to assess potential candidates before submitting its recommendation for the vacant Black Stars position.
Zito’s comments come as Ghana considers its next coaching appointment, with the association now responsible for selecting the candidate it believes is best suited to lead the national team.
