Ghana coach Otto Addo has travelled to Italy to check on Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey, who is recovering from a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The Fiorentina full-back sustained the setback shortly after the last international break, ruling him out of Ghana’s final World Cup qualifying fixtures against the Central African Republic and Comoros this month.
Addo’s visit was aimed at encouraging Lamptey and assuring him of the national team’s full support as he begins what is expected to be a lengthy rehabilitation process.
Lamptey, who switched allegiance from England to Ghana in 2022, has been a key part of the Black Stars’ setup in recent years, with his pace and versatility making him one of the team’s most exciting defensive options.
His absence will be felt as Ghana looks to seal qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but Addo’s personal gesture underlines the importance of keeping players motivated and connected even during difficult times.
