Black Starlets Set For Final Showdown With Ivory Coast In WAFU B U-17 Championship

The Black Starlets of Ghana will face Ivory Coast this evening in the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Boys Championship final at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm, with both sides eager to reignite their rivalry on the regional stage.

Ghana’s recent history against Ivory Coast in the competition has been mixed. In the 2022 edition, the Starlets defeated their West African neighbours 3-2 in the third-place playoff to secure bronze. Two years later, they began their campaign with a resounding 5-1 win over the Ivorians but faltered in the final stages, finishing fourth after losing to Nigeria in the third-place playoff.

The Starlets will be looking to build momentum and improve on past performances as they aim for silverware and qualification to next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The fixture promises a feisty contest, with Ivory Coast equally determined to exact revenge after their previous defeats to Ghana in recent tournaments.
