Ghanaian centre-back James Asante has joined CS Vulturii from Gilortul on a free transfer, giving the Romanian club a new defensive option ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Asante, 23, completed the move on 27 August 2026 after spending the opening part of the season with Gilortul. The transfer marks the latest step in a run of moves between Romanian clubs for the defender, who was born in Koforidua and stands 1.85m tall.
The centre-back arrived at Gilortul from CS Drobeta on 1 July 2026, also on a free transfer. His time at that club followed a move from M. Lupeni, completed on 9 September 2025, while he joined M. Lupeni from Semper Fi FC in March of the same year.
That sequence makes the switch to CS Vulturii Asante’s fourth recorded club change since March 2025. Each of those moves was completed without a transfer fee, with his latest departure from Gilortul followed by an immediate arrival at Vulturii.
His recorded competitive appearances include two matches in the Romanian Cup and one in the Liga 3 Play-Off. Those outings account for 212 minutes of senior football, with the majority of that total coming in the cup competition.
Asante’s role is clearly defined as a central defender, and his arrival adds another Ghanaian player to a career that has so far been based in Romania. The move also keeps him within the country’s club system after spells with Semper Fi FC, M. Lupeni, CS Drobeta and Gilortul.
There are no details attached to the length of Asante’s agreement with CS Vulturii, but the transfer itself was completed on 27 August. The Ghana defender is now a CS Vulturii player.
