Ampem Darkoa Ladies strengthened their position in the 2026 CAF WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers with a commanding 4-0 victory over Nigerien side AS Guard National.
The Ghana Women’s Premier League champions controlled the contest and took the lead in the 23rd minute through Nancy Amoh. The forward beat several defenders before sending a powerful finish into the top corner, giving the Techiman-based club an early advantage.
Ampem Darkoa continued to threaten after opening the scoring and doubled their lead before half-time. Milot Abena Pokuaa completed a swift counter-attack to make it 2-0, leaving the Ghanaian champions in a comfortable position at the interval.
AS Guard National struggled to contain their opponents after the break, with Ampem Darkoa maintaining pressure and looking to add to their advantage.
Their third goal arrived in the 81st minute. Patricia Adjei reacted quickly to a loose ball following a cross and finished the move to put the result beyond doubt.
Veteran forward Priscilla Okyere then completed the scoring late in the match with a well-executed looping effort, sealing a convincing victory for the 2023 WAFU B Women’s Champions League winners.
The result gives Ampem Darkoa two wins from two matches and keeps them firmly in contention in the qualifying competition. Their final group fixture is listed as a meeting with 2024 champions Edo Queens, who have also won both of their matches.
Meanwhile, AS Guard National of Niger and ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire have each suffered two defeats in Group B.
Ampem Darkoa are also scheduled to face ASEC Mimosas in their final group fixture on 30 August 2026.
The Ghanaian club are seeking another successful campaign after winning the WAFU B Women’s Champions League title in 2023. That triumph followed the 2021 success of fellow Ghanaian club Hasaacas, meaning Ghana has produced two winners of the regional competition.
Both Ampem Darkoa and Hasaacas subsequently represented the sub-region in the CAF Women’s Champions League. The latest result puts Ampem Darkoa in a strong position as they aim to progress from Group B and again compete at the highest level of women’s club football in Africa.
