England and Ghana midfielder Brayden Johnson has joined Harrogate Town from Boro U21 on loan, giving the National League club a new option in central midfield.
The 20-year-old’s move was completed on 20 August 2026, with the loan running until 31 May 2027. Johnson will return to Boro U21 at the end of the agreement.
Johnson arrives at Harrogate after spending the opening part of the 2026-27 campaign with Boro U21, who compete in Premier League 2. He has already featured once for Harrogate in the National League Cup, playing 31 minutes.
The right-footed midfielder spent part of last season on loan at Kidderminster, joining them from Boro U21 in March 2026 before returning to his parent club at the end of May. His latest move represents another temporary spell away from Middlesbrough’s under-21 side.
Johnson first joined Boro U21 from Eastbourne in January 2025. Before that, he had played for Eastbourne Borough Under-18s, while further loan spells with Gateshead and Kidderminster gave him experience outside the Premier League 2 environment.
His spell with Gateshead began in March 2025 and ended at the conclusion of that season, after which he returned to Boro U21. The following year, he moved to Kidderminster for a second loan before rejoining the club’s development side.
Harrogate compete in the National League, while Boro U21 operate in Premier League 2, meaning Johnson’s latest switch places him in a senior league setting for the 2026-27 season. He is listed as a central midfielder and will wear number 25 for his new club.
Johnson has represented both England and Ghana at nationality level, and his arrival adds a player with experience across academy football and previous loan assignments to Harrogate’s midfield group.
The move is the latest step in a series of temporary transfers for Johnson, who has now left Boro U21 for a loan spell at Harrogate Town running through to 31 May 2027.
