Gender Ministry to monitor Nana Akua Addo’s children during police investigation

Social welfare officers will oversee the welfare of Nana Akua Addo’s children as authorities respond to an alleged assault involving the actress and her husband, Norman Harold.

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection said the monitoring would help protect the children’s safety and best interests while support is provided to the family.

The Ministry announced the arrangement in a statement issued on Saturday, October 10, following a meeting between Gender Minister Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Harold after his discharge from hospital.

Harold was not present during an earlier visit by Dr Lartey to the family because he was receiving medical treatment.

According to the Ministry, the latest intervention forms part of measures designed to protect the children’s emotional wellbeing and provide them with a safe and stable environment.

During her engagement with Harold, Dr Lartey said the immediate focus was the safety, wellbeing and emotional welfare of the family, with particular attention to the children.

She said they needed to be protected from conflict and any circumstances that could negatively affect their development.

The Minister also underlined the importance of providing suitable psychosocial and social welfare assistance to support the emotional wellbeing of the whole family.

The alleged assault of Nana Akua Addo by Harold is currently being investigated by police.

The Ministry said it would continue working with the Police and other relevant institutions to support the family while the investigation remains ongoing.
