E/R: Prisons officers besiege DOVVSU office over colleague’s arrest

Prison officers in Koforidua in the Eastern Region have been trooping to the offices of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service.

It follows the arrest of a prison officer accused of defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old house help.

The girl leaves with a female prison officer the suspect is dating.

Starr News’ Eastern regional correspondent Kojo Ansah who has been investigating the story reports that even though the DOVVSU office is helpless in providing temporary accommodation for the victim, they are reluctant to allow her return to the household where the alleged abuse took place.

Ansah added that top officials of the Service were using their influence to get the matter withdrawn from the Police station.
