The People’s National Party (PNP) has launched a national fundraising campaign to raise GH¢2 million to support its operational and logistical needs, in what it describes as a bold step toward revitalising Ghana’s political landscape.
The announcement, made following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, forms part of the party’s renewed efforts to position itself as a credible third force in Ghana’s heavily polarised political environment.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Sulemana Seidu, the PNP said the funds will go toward clearing rent arrears on its 16 regional and 174 district offices, facilities the party says are essential for grassroots mobilisation and are required under Electoral Commission regulations to ensure compliance with national party laws.
Beyond rent, the campaign aims to finance the acquisition of a reliable vehicle for national constituency tours and to support other pressing operational needs, including logistics and outreach programmes.
“We are building a stronger, law-abiding, and people-centric alternative,” the statement said. “We call on all patriots, comrades, and well-meaning Ghanaians to support this noble cause.”
As part of the campaign, the party will host a Grand Fundraising Dinner on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, at the Best Western Hotel in Accra, inviting contributions, sponsorships, and nationwide participation.
The PNP, once a modest presence in Ghanaian politics, says it is determined to “break the cycle of two-party domination” and “revive multiparty democracy” with a renewed focus on inclusivity and accountability.
Whether this effort translates into electoral momentum remains to be seen, but party leaders are optimistic that with enough public backing, the PNP can offer Ghanaians a genuine alternative.
