Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has called for calm and continuity within the Black Stars set-up, insisting that this is not the right time to sack head coach Otto Addo.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Afriyie argued that while Ghana is on the brink of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stability is what the team needs.
“Sacking Otto Addo at this point is not the right decision. We should get a more qualified coach to support Otto Addo,” he said.
Afriyie believes the team has shown visible improvement in recent matches and that Addo deserves the chance to continue leading the side with the right technical backing.
Ghana face Comoros in their final round of World Cup qualifiers, a fixture carrying extra emotional weight after Comoros famously defeated the Black Stars at the 2021 AFCON.
But Afriyie is confident this time will be different.
“I have seen improvement in the Black Stars. I am 100% sure that the technical team will go for revenge against Comoros.”
While debates continue among fans and pundits over the coach’s future, Afriyie stressed that now is the time to support the team, not create uncertainty.
Ghana sit within touching distance of their fifth World Cup appearance, and victory over Comoros in Accra could seal their ticket to the global stage.
