The resigned governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Dr Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku has disclosed that no one should be blamed for his exit from the Central Bank indicating that he resigned out of his own volition .
Dr Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku is reported to have tendered in his resignation in the wake for calls by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials for him to be fired but he has explained that he was not under pressure from anyone to resign reiterating the fact that he did so for solely personal reasons.
The 55-year-old economist is expected to attend his last day of work Friday, March 31, 2017. Dr Issahaku was appointed governor in April 2016 by former President John Dramani Mahama. He replaced Dr Henry Kofi Wampah who took an early retirement four months before the end of his term in August 2016. Dr Issahaku prior to his appointment as governor was the second deputy governor of the central bank since July 2013. He holds a Masters in Agric Economics and a Post Graduate degree (Ph.D) in Political Science from the University of Georgia.
He worked as a governance expert at the State University of New York, Center for International Studies and also at the African Development Bank and also headed the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF).
