Aqua Vitens shuts down Weija Dam for repairs

Accra, March 30, GNA – The Management of Aqua Vitens Rand Limited (AVRL), acting for and on behalf of Ghana Water Company has announced the shutting down of the Weija Treatment Plants for repair works.

The exercise which began on Tuesday March 29 to Thursday March 30 was also due to planned power outage by the Electricity Company of Ghana.

A statement issued by Stanley Martey, Communications Manager of AVRL said customers would be affected in Dansoman, Kaneshie, Mataheko, North Kaneshie, Abbosey Okai, Laterbiokoshie, Korle Bu, Korle Gonno, Kwashieman, Darkuman, Odorkor Sakaman, Mallam, Gbawe, Abeka Lapaz, Tesano, Tantra Hills, Nii Boi Town, Achimota, Kasoa, Weija, McCARTHY Hill, Banana Inn, Chorkor, Accra Central, Ministries, Accra Brewery and surrounding areas.

“Management regrets any inconvenience caused and wish to advice customers to store water ahead of the shutdown. Management assures the general public that Water supply will resume as soon as power is restored to the plant,” the statement said.
