A public appeal by Akoma FM has raised more than GH¢30,000 and secured essential items for Diana, a heavily pregnant woman who lost all her belongings in a fire at Atasemanso.
Diana, who is approaching her ninth month of pregnancy, was left without her possessions after fire gutted a number of shops in the area.
Her situation was first reported on Tuesday’s edition of GhanAkoma, presented by Sir John. The story was later revisited on Akoma Mu Nsem, hosted by Maakos, where it prompted listeners and members of the public to offer support.
The appeal generated more than GH¢30,000, along with other items intended to help Diana recover from the incident and prepare for the arrival of her baby.
On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the Akoma Mu Nsem team formally presented the donations to Diana.
She became emotional and shed tears of joy as she received the support, which came during a particularly difficult period in her life.
Diana thanked the management of Akoma FM, the programme team and the station’s listeners for their generosity and kindness. She also prayed for blessings upon everyone who contributed to the donation and supported her when she needed help most.
The response demonstrates the ability of radio to do more than inform and entertain, showing how a broadcast platform can bring people together to assist someone facing hardship.
For Diana, the contribution provides financial help and essential items as she nears childbirth, while also assuring her that she has public support during the challenging period.
The intervention further reflects Akoma Mu Nsem’s commitment to highlighting the concerns of vulnerable people and using its platform to mobilise assistance for those in need.
