The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Ghana is projected to increase by 18.5 per cent from 16 October 2026, while petrol and diesel prices could fall during the same pricing period.
The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) expects petrol prices to decline by 1.67 per cent and diesel by 3.32 per cent in the second pricing window of October. The forecast would create contrasting effects for consumers, with households paying more for cooking fuel while motorists could see lower costs at the pumps.
LPG is widely used by Ghanaian households for cooking, meaning the projected increase could make it less affordable and affect consumption. The rise would also add pressure to household budgets at a time when petrol and diesel users may benefit from price reductions.
The outlook represents a possible change from COMAC’s previous forecast. Before the 1 October pricing window, the organisation had predicted increases in the prices of all three petroleum products. Despite that projection, several Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) kept their existing pump prices.
COMAC’s latest figures are projections rather than confirmed retail prices. The amount paid by consumers will depend on the decisions taken by individual OMCs and other fuel retailers.
The expected changes are due to take effect on 16 October, although retailers may adjust their prices. Consumers are expected to rely on announcements from their preferred fuel stations for confirmation of the prices available when the new pricing window begins.
