Former Parliamentarian for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency who also served as Western North Regional Minister, Hon. KINGSLEY ABOAGYE GYEDU, has sharply criticized the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), BERNARD ANTWI BOASIAKO, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, over an unjustifiable comment regarding the NPP’s 2026 presidential race.
During Dr. Bawumia’s Ashanti Regional tour, Wontumi stated that “except Dr. Bawumia becomes president, none of the other aspirants will be.”
Aboagye Gyedu responded by saying that Wontumi is “still unconscious and unaware that he is in opposition,” urging someone to “wake him up” as he is “dreaming and not facing reality.”
He emphasized that Kennedy Agyapong’s team will not be intimidated as they were in 2023, stating that measures are in place to protect voters and their ballots for Kennedy Agyapong.
Aboagye Gyedu further noted that Bawumia’s team senses an impending defeat and has developed tactics to frustrate Kennedy’s camp, but such actions will not be tolerated.
He warned that if the NPP loses the 2028 polls, the party could remain in opposition for an extended period, questioning whether they could survive being relegated for the next twelve years. According to him, “the time to act is now, and the person to vote for is Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.”
