AMANTIN: BONO EAST REGION: HEADMASTER OF AMANTIN SHS APPEALS FOR DINING HALL, FUNITURE, DORMITRIES AND OTHER FACILITIES FOR THE SCHOOL

The 30-year old Category B Senior High School, Amantin Senior High School (Great AMASS) in the Bono East region is in dire need of some facilities to facilitate the increasing number of students in the school.

The school’s current student population is 2,405 with 125 but still lacks facilities, according to the Headmaster, Mr. Godfrey Djei.

Speaking at the school’s 30th Anniversary and homecoming ceremony on Saturday, 12th September, 2025, under the theme: Quality Education and Discipline; tools for Self Employment and National Development, the Headmaster outline various challenges the school is battling with and stressed the need to provide solution to them.

According to him, Amantin SHS lacks dormitory facilities, inadequate classrooms, furniture, dining halls, and administration block.

“The current current number of our students so far outweighs the number of furniture we have in the classrooms. Students are compelled to carry desks from one class to another for use, and some of them also have no choice but to share the desk in the classrooms, “he stated.

On inadequate dormitories, Mr. Godfrey Djei, said, “we currently have more students being accommodated in the boarding house than ever and a lot of students do not have beds to sleep on, they put their mattresses on floor which create limited use of space leading to congestion in the dormitories. Our dining hall has now been used as a dormitory.

“The school also lacks decent and adequate toilet and bathroom facilities for students.

Another challenge in the school is the dining hall. Our students eat under tree because their dining hall has been converted to dormitory. “He stated.”

The Headmaster appealed to benevolent persons, institutions, government, and old students to come into their aid.

Guest of honour, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, education minister who was represented by the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, assured the school authorities the NDC government vision on providing infrastructure development to the schools which Amantin SHS is not out of them .

He also called on the school alumni to support the school in diverse ways.

Again, Atebubu Amantin Municipal Education Director, Mr.Isaac Budu, on his speech, advised the students to stay away from hard drugs and concentrate on their studies.
