Sunyani April 26, GNA – Madam Elizabeth Frimpong, Executive Director of 6th March Foundation, a Sunyani based- NGO at the weekend advised the youth to lead decent livelihood and ensure they maintain their virginity before they mature to adulthood. She said that the HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases are real and can ruin their future if indulge in them especially at their prime ages.
Madam Frimpong was speaking at the close of a two-day sports competition organised by the NGO’s Virgin Club in Sunyani, sponsored by the Ghana AIDS Commission, for members of the Club in four Junior Secondary Schools in the Municipality. The participating schools were New Dormaa Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) JSS, Dumasua Roman Catholic JSS, Abesim Presby JSS and Sunyani High Street JSS.
Madam Frimpong urged the members to be committed to their education so that they become great professionals in their various fields of study adding that the country needed more professionals and able-bodied youth to develop it.
She urged the participants to respect their parents and their teachers so that the accorded the necessary training, support and knowledge for their development. Mr. Anthony Kwaku Asante, a Sports Organizer commended the organizers and sponsors of the programme for their foresight in bringing together the youth for such fruitful discourse, adding that the youth needed a lot of exercise to build their bodies and to be active in their studies.
The members of the Virgin Clubs competed in athletics, soccer, sack race, fill the bottle, tug of war and egg and spoon races and were each presented with tee shirts, volleyballs and certificates of participation.
Sunyani High Street Virgin Club and New Dormaa SDA Virgin Club placed first and second respectively in the volleyball and soccer tournaments and each of them was presented a wall clock. 26 April 05
