Once again Yonso Vision is in the spotlight. On August 21, 2012 a fire outbreak occurred at Columbus Summit Apartment which rendered about hundred people homeless. Some of them lost all their personal belongings. Yonso Vision decided to visit these people on September 01, 2012 to show their love and concern through donation.
The group donated 14 bags of rice, soap tooth paste, tooth brush and different kinds of cereal; most of the victims are refugees from Nepal and Far East. In attendance was Pastor Kwesi Gyimah, the Church Pastor of Columbus African SDA Church, who supervised the distribution of the items. He thanked Yonso Vision for its kind gesture and positive impact on the fire victims.
The climax of the Yonso vision’s activities at the weekend was a Get-together which was held at the Clarion Hotel, where the group used the occasion to raise funds to upgrade the existing clinic in the town. Friends and love ones were invited to this occasion and they donated towards this noble call. Speaking at the forum, Mr. Adonteng Asiamah, the group’s project coordinator who resides in Toronto reminded everyone the need to help the project. He recounted his experience at the clinic during his recent visit to Ghana. He said, a minor emergency incident that happened in the midnight at the clinic, almost took the life of a friend due lack of basic consumables and medical equipment such as blood pressure kits and thermometer.. This touched members of Yonso Vision and their guest and have therefore decided to help the clinic with the little resources at their disposal.
Our guest speaker for the occasion was Mr. Kojo Omono Asamoah who is the CEO of the newly opened hospital (Horizon Hospital) at Mbrom, Kumasi. He said the health care system in Country is in crisis and needs help from people in the diaspora. He cited several instances where simple disease that can be treated or cure easily are killing Ghanaians in an alarming rate. He commended people from Yonso in North America for showing concern in the health sector and assured them the support of the Horizon hospital.
