YMCA receives donation

The US Embassy has donated items to YMCA Ghana to assist the organisation in its empowerment projects.

The items include household equipment, toys, clothes and books.

Mr Nathan R Simmons, American Citizen Services Chief, during the donation said the YMCA has been noted for its youth empowerment projects and thus it is important for the Embassy to show support in appreciation for the good works it is engaged in for the development of the underprivileged.

Mr Simmons said the Embassy has been supporting underprivileged countries through educational projects to empower the people.

Mr Kwabena Nketia Addae, Executive Director YMCA, thanked the US Embassy for the kind gesture.

He said the YMCA is currently embarking on Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Project focused on reducing the prevalence and incidence of teenage pregnancies through educational campaign targeting boys and girls of 19 years and younger mostly in the junior high schools.

He said the donation is timely since it would help during the initiative.
