The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has provided training equipment and start-up kits to artisans in Juaboso District, Western North Region, to help them develop practical skills and improve their livelihoods.
The support was handed over by the Western North Regional Director of the YEA, Hayford Arthur Panyin, at the Juaboso District Assembly on Monday, October 12, 2026.
The items included industrial sewing machines, electrical tools and other materials required by the beneficiaries during their training.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Panyin praised the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA and the President for supporting young people who want to pursue careers in different artisanal fields.
He said the government, through the YEA, remained committed to helping young people enter skilled trades by supplying the equipment and start-up kits they needed.
More than 300 beneficiaries
The Juaboso District Director of the YEA, Emmanuel Baidoo, said more than 300 young people in the district had benefited from the agency’s programmes.
He said the beneficiaries had followed different paths after receiving support. Some had become police assistants and prison officers, while others had entered artisanal trades as a means of earning a living and improving their livelihoods.
The Juaboso District Chief Executive, Alexander Adu Quist, encouraged the beneficiaries to use the equipment responsibly and approach their training with seriousness.
He said commitment to the programmes would play an important role in shaping their future and helping them secure better prospects.
Adu Quist added that the government had met its obligations by providing the training equipment and start-up kits, as well as paying the beneficiaries’ training fees.
He urged the young people to fulfil their part of the arrangement by remaining dedicated to their training and making effective use of the support they had received.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the government and the YEA. They said the equipment would give them the practical skills needed to prepare for employment and become self-reliant.
