Yammin thanks Mahama after his dismissal

Dismissed deputy Ashanti regional Minister Joseph Yammin has expressed his gratitude to President John Mahama.

The former deputy sports minister took to his Facebook wall to express his appreciation moments after his dismissal was announced.

“Thank you Mr President, am grateful,” he wrote.

The appointment of Yammin and his boss, Samuel Sarpong have been withdrawn by President John Mahama for reasons yet to be known.

A statement signed by Minister for Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, on Wednesday said Brong Ahafo Regional Minister Eric Opoku will act as Ashanti Regional Minister until a substantive Minister is appointed.

There have been tensions between Dr Sarpong and Mr Yammin for some months now.

Sources within the governing party in the Ashanti Region say the dismissal of the two may be linked to Tuesday’s disturbances at the party’s regional office by some irate members.
