The leader and founder of Builders’ Christian Church International, Bishop Prophet Thomas Afare Yeboah, has urged fellow prophets to stop using tragic events as a means of seeking attention and publicity.
Speaking after the August 6 helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District—which claimed eight lives, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, Bishop Afare Yeboah expressed concern over the wave of prophecies that followed the tragedy.
He noted that many prophets claimed they foresaw the incident in revelations, but instead of taking action to prevent it, they publicized these visions through videos and social media for fame.
Bishop Afare Yeboah pleaded with such prophets to focus on averting the misfortunes they foresee rather than making public pronouncements to stir fear.
He also called on the government to establish a network of pastors who would meet quarterly to pray for the nation, its regions, and districts, stressing that prayer should be a regular practice, not only in times of crisis.
He urged politicians not to forget God when they win power, most of them go to God help but immediately they won power they forget about him, he added.
According to him, while the nation grieves, this tragedy should also serve as a reminder that there is hope. “This bad news happened for a good reason. Let us not apportion blame, but rather raise people who will stand firm, because there is a brighter future for Ghana,” he said.
