Wontumi given 7-day ultimatum to retract claims against IGP

The Young Cadres Association (YCA) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given seven days ultimatum to Mr Bernard Antwi-Boasiako to prove or retract corruption allegations against the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor.

Mr Bright Botchewy, the General Secretary of the Association, said Mr Antwi-Boasoako (aka) Wontumi should be asked to prove the allegations to Ghanaians or to exonerate the IGP in order to restore the trust and confidence reposed in him by President Mahama.

He said the unity of the country and the well-being of its people were at stake and that the confidence of investors and other multi-national business executives would be eroded if the right thing was not done.

Mr Botchewy said at a press conference that the NDC wanted Chairman Wontumi to render an unqualified apology to President John Mahama, Vice President Amissah-Arthur, the IGP, and the Chairman of the Police Council.

“Failure to comply, the association would send Mr Antwi-Boasiako to court to prove the corruption allegations leveled against the IGP,” he said.

He alleged that the statement by Chairman Wontumi formed part of the NPP’s broader agenda to undermine the authority of the IGP.
