Whindo residents want death-trap bridge repaired

The only bridge that links Whindo, a farming community in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly of the Western Region is in a very deplorable state.

The bridge is also gradually becoming a death trap as well as cutting the community from other surrounding towns.

The Unit committee Chairman of the Asakae-Whindo electoral area, Mathew Yiwan told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the condition of the bridge is making it difficult for residents to bring their farm produce to the market for sale.

He added that all efforts made to the Assembly for support has been fruitless.

The Chief of Whindo, Nana Kwesi Essian IV, urged government to build a new bridge for them to ensure that they had access to their farm to avert the entire community going on a demonstration.

She said the situation was affecting socio-economic lives of the people and said residents of the area were buying water from neighbouring communities at high cost.
