Western Region recorded 11 deaths during Xmas

Takoradi, Jan. 11, GNA – The Western Region recorded 11 deaths and 99 injuries in a number of road accidents during the Christmas festivities. Alhaji Sumani Mbo, Regional Chairman of the Road Safety Committee, tol= d the GNA in an interview at Takoradi that there were reported cases involvin= g 67 commercial and 33 private vehicles and one motor bike. He added that 21 persons were known to be seriously injured, while 38 sustained minor injuries, with six pedestrians knocked down by vehicles. He attributed the rise in road traffic accidents, particularly during festive moments to alcohol, overloading, fatigue and over-speeding.
