We’re losing hope in our leaders – Dagbon Youth

Youth of Dagbon have expressed dissatisfaction with happenings in the traditional area, calling on government to step in immediately.

According to them, government must hold the two gates to all agreements reached in order to ensure lasting peace.

The Abudu gate recently defied a directive by the regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Na Andani Yakubu Abdulai, who is also the Acting President of the Dagbon Traditional Council, not to celebrate this year’s Damba Festival.

The celebration, which began last Thursday, is expected to climax on Thursday, December 31.

The Northern Regional Security Council on Tuesday warned the Abudus over celebrating on the eve of the New Year.

Youth of the area in a statement on Wednesday say: “We are beginning to lose hope and faith in leaders of Dagbon. We have had enough of the excuses from both divide and we are not ready any further excuses anymore.”

The statement jointly issued by the leadership of the Dagbon Students Association (DASA), League of Youth Associations, Dagbon for Peace and Coalition of Neutral Youth Associations expressed sadness with the current situation.

It advised the youth not to take sides in the age-long conflict.
