We’ll not allow Police to brutalize us again – LMVCA

A leading member of pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Charles Owusu, has said they won’t allow the Police to break their ranks with brutalities, as it remains resolute in presenting the Electoral Commission its petition.

The Police have indicated an intelligence report gathered suggests that the LMVCA protesters have a suspicious plan of destroying properties at the offices of the EC under the guise of embarking on a peaceful demonstration, but insisted the Police Service will not give them the chance to implement their plan.

The Gt. Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohunu explained that the main intent behind demonstrators of the Let My Vote Count Alliance’s (LMVCA) resolve to still picket at the premises of the Electoral Commission is to enable them vandalize properties and cause disturbances at the place.

But reacting to the issues on Kasapa News on Friday, Charles Owusu said DCOP Tetteh Yohunu’s claim give suspicions that he’s under pressure to boycott their plans in that exercise.

He further stressed that no amount of intimidation will scare them from making sure their petition gets to the EC.

“What the Police did will not happen again; we’re not allowing them to put up that fierce action against us this time round. No amount of intimidation from Naa Yakubu and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) will scare us. As for the EC, we shall go there and make sure we present our petition come September, 29.”
