We will deal with NPP – Rawlings

Ex-President Rawlings assured his numerous supporters, who gathered at his Ridge residence after he appeared before the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC), that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) would be dealt with at the appropriate time.

?We will deal with the NPP at the appropriate time,? he told the supporters to whom he expressed his warm gratitude for staying throughout the proceedings of the NRC.

He said he was committed to offering the much-needed support for the leader of NDC for the betterment of the party.

He therefore pleaded with the party faithful to work tirelessly to ensure a landslide victory in the 2004 elections so that he could contribute his ideas.

Contrary to widespread fears that the former Chairman of the erstwhile Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) would be passionate in the face of accusations at the NRC, he kept his cool throughout the 40 or so minutes that the proceedings lasted after which he stepped forward and saluted the members of the commission to demonstrate his respect for the law.

As he stepped down from his seat he said, ?Your honour if you don?t have any further questions, may I leave?? This attitude won him a great applause from his supporters who had thronged to the commission.
