Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah has set his sights on nothing less than the ultimate prize at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), declaring that his team’s ambition goes beyond mere participation.
Speaking boldly ahead of Sudan’s semi-final clash with Madagascar, the former Ghana coach said his players are driven by the hopes of millions of fans back home who are rallying behind them.
“Our goal is beyond just participation. We aspire to achieve the African title,” Appiah said. “Millions of Sudanese people follow us, and they also support us, so I say it frankly: we aspire to achieve the African title.”
Under Appiah’s guidance, Sudan have grown into one of the tournament’s most disciplined and determined sides, combining solid defending with attacking flair. The semi-final against a lively Madagascar side promises to be one of the most intriguing fixtures of the competition.
For Appiah, however, the mission remains clear, lifting the trophy and writing a new chapter in Sudan’s football history.
If Sudan reach the final, it would mark one of their most remarkable achievements on the continental stage and could provide a huge boost to the country’s football development.
