Kade, May 6, GNA- Six towns in the Kwaebibrem District of the Eastern Region are to benefit under the Small Town Water Supply (STWS) project this year.
The communities include Boadua, Kusi and Otumi, which would enjoy German Funding Agency KFW, whilst Takrowase, Pramkese and Abaam are to have their facilities financed by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).
The District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Yiadom Boakye, who announced this at the Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly at Kade on Tuesday, said drilling of the boreholes was already in progress in the six communities.
He said the contract sum for the project is 4.2 billion cedis and said the Assembly and the beneficiary communities were obliged to pay ten per cent of the total cost of the projects on equal basis. Mr Yiadom Boakye urged the beneficiary communities to pay their five per cent share to facilitate work on the projects, adding that the Assembly had paid half of its commitment and efforts are being made to pay the rest.
He also announced that the Social Investment Fund (SIF) had approved some projects, worth over 1.1 billion cedis for five communities including Takrowase, Abaam, Nkwakwakrom Number Four, Adankrono and Larbikrom.
He said one of the condition attached to the implementation of the projects was for the beneficiary community to contribute 10 per cent of the total cost of projects and urged those communities to contribute their share to ensure early completion of the projects.
