US Embassy confident of justice for two murdered Americans

The United States embassy in Ghana has expressed regret over the killing of two U.S. citizens in Ghana.

Police in Akosombo found the bodies of the two African Americans buried by some unknown assailants. The US embassy has confirmed the deaths.

The two bodies were found after a search team found a pool of blood and a blood-stained cudgel in their room.

The embassy in a statement Thursday said it is already in contact with the families of the deceased and will provide the necessary consular assistance to them.

“The U.S. Embassy in Ghana reports with deepest sympathy that two U.S. citizens have been killed in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

“We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victims.

The U.S. Embassy in Ghana is in contact with family members and is providing appropriate consular assistance. Due to privacy considerations, we have no further comment at this time.

“We have confidence in the rule of law in Ghana, and urge any residents with information regarding this incident to report it to the Ghana Police Service. We refer you to local authorities for details on the investigation,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Police in Akosombo have arrested two people in connection with the crime.
