US Ambassador bids farewell to National Chief Imam

Mr Gene Cretz, outgoing United States Ambassador, has bid farewell to Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, in Accra, given the assurance that the Obama Administration would continue to support Ghana.

He said the US government has initiated many developmental projects in the country especially in the area of education, health and agriculture and it would continue to sustain such initiatives.

“We have a good record in Ghana in terms of the projects we have initiated and it will be sustained,” he stressed.

He said America is a complex society which guarantees the liberty of individuals with respect to religion.

He said, even though the US has its own problems such as the recent killing of some black Christians, it would be confronted as it sticks to its principles.

He expressed joy for coming into contact with personalities like the National Chief Imam during his stay in Ghana, assuring that his successor would continue the relationship.

Sheikh Sharubutu commended the US for its respect for different religions including Islam, saying that he is a living witness to the many mosques in the US.

He prayed for the outgoing Ambassador and wished him well in his endeavours.
