[Update] Bunkprugu Yunyoo violence: 3 dead, 9 houses torched

Nine houses have been torched in Bunkprugu Yunyoo in the Northern region after renewed clashes between two factions in the community Monday morning.

One more person has also been reported dead in the renewed violence that is steeped in ethnic and chieftaincy disagreements.

Police and military reinforcement have been dispatched to the town to maintain calm.

The latest clashes come after the death of two men in Bunkprugu Yunyoo.

Their bodies were found in a bush after being reported to have gone missing last Friday.

According to the Police, physical examinations on the two bodies reveal they may have been struggling with each other.

Superintendent Steven Deplaporte with the Northern regional Police command told Starr News no gunshot wound were found on them.

“It was late when we received the report, so the following day, we organised a search party and they followed to the bush and after a search, the bodies were discovered; which suggested that they died through struggling. So it is not a shooting incident but investigations have begun,” he noted.
