Ghana is keen on developing its cyber security community and ecosystem, Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah has said.
He says the Mahama-led government is working tirelessly to put in place a national framework that will guide the country in solving cybersecurity issues.
He’s insisted that there are ongoing efforts in tackling the cybersecurity challenges in Africa at the national, public, private sector and individual levels.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Minister of Communications, Mr. Edward Ato Sarpong, at a two-day training workshop and regional symposium on cyber security in Accra, he said there were many inconsistencies that made it difficult for Africa to present a united front against cyber security issues.
He said there is the need for collaborative efforts and cooperation among governments, security agencies, IT professionals, public and private sectors to align laws, in solving cybersecurity in Africa adding that proper policies should be put in place.
The workshop was organised by the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FISRT) and Africa Computer Emergency Response Teams (AFRICACERT), and was under the theme, “Joining Forces to Promote Cyber Security in Africa”.
