Unite to develop country – Ghanaians urged

Kumasi, June 26, GNA – The Reverend Ernest Odame Asare, Old Tafo District Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, on Sunday said that the euphoria that characterised the Black Stars victories in the World Cup bore testimony on the need for Ghanaians to unite to develop the country.

He pointed out that even though criticisms of government policies and programmes were necessary, they should be constructive to unite the people instead of creating “confusion, animosity and chaos among Ghanaians”.

Rev. Odame Asare made the call at a thanksgiving service to end a three-day Delegates’ Conference of the Men’s Fellowship of the Asante Presbytery of the Church at Atonsu, near Kumasi. It was on the theme: “That They All May Be One Witnessing for Christ”. He said Jesus Christ was a symbol of unity and peace and called on Christians to emulate him.

“Unity among Christians worldwide is paramount to the development of the world. We should begin from our own country since God’s glory cannot manifest in a state of confusion and disunity”.

Rev. Odame Asare who is the Presbytery Clerk-elect, appealed to members of the Fellowship to endeavour to complete a hostel complex they had initiated at Kwamo in the Ejisu-Juaben District.

Mr Kofi Asante Agyarko, National President of the Fellowship, stressed the need for the men to sacrifice and lead in activities to ensure the growth of the Fellowship and the Church.

The Fellowship has 1,926 members in the 74 branches of the 23 districts within the Presbytery.
