Two students rewarded for brilliant performance

Two junior high school (JHS) students in Kumasi have been awarded scholarship for their brilliant performance in a regional quiz competition for schools in Ashanti.

Michael Ababio of the Suame Salvation Army JHS emerged winner of the competition organized by “eSyllabus for Africa”, a United States (US)-based NGO, with Dominic Opoku Boateng of the Atonsu M/A JHS, placing second.

For this, Mr. Henry Howard, Director of the NGO with its headquarters in San Francisco, said it would pay for the school fees, books and other needs – from the JHS through to the senior high school (SHS).

eSyllabus has been in the frontline of education promotion across Africa and started its operation in Ghana in 2011.

Mr. Howard said it was presently supporting 150 SHS students nationwide and 80 others in tertiary institutions.

Selection of schools for the competition was done by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the students answered questions in mathematics and science.
