Two foreigners who were arrested over fake 100- dollar bills at Mile Seven in Accra were on Tuesday granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.
Mohamed Basim, 35, a Tunisian and Adekunle Morufden, 52, a Nigerian were admitted to bail in the sum of GH?20,000.00 with three sureties each.
The sureties are to provide valid Identity Cards before executing the bail.
The court, presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong-Agyin Doku, also ordered the accused persons to deposit their passports with the Court Registrar and report to the Police every Thursday.
They are to reappear on November 4.
Basim and Morufden, however, have pleaded not guilty to the charge of possessing fake currency.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Aidan Dery told the court that, the dollar notes were being sent to the Bank of Ghana for verification.
On September 23, at about 1500 hours, based on intelligence, the Special Weapon and Tactics Team of the Police Headquarters, led by the National Command, undertook a special operation at Mile 7 and intercepted a Toyota Corolla.
It was detected that the accused persons had allegedly hidden the fake dollars in a silver coated trunk in the car with registration number GR 5225-13.
According to prosecution, the accused persons attempted bribing the Police with $30,000 which they refused and arrested them.
During interrogation, Morufden, according to the prosecution, confessed that they intended to trade the fake dollars for GH¢300 million.
