Two drivers fined for conspiracy and stealing

The Tarkwa Magistrate court two has fined two drivers GH¢300.00 each for conspiracy and stealing.

The accused persons, Alfred Gyan and Evans Kwoffie pleaded guilty to the offence.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman told the court, presided over by Madam Gifty Cudjoe, that the complainants are security officers of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem (AAI) mine.

Inspector Anaman said on October 13, at around 0900 hours, the accused persons together with 15 others, went to the concession of Gold Fields Ghana Tarkwa mine, south plant area and stole 17 bags of used carbon worth GH¢1,463.27.

The Prosecutor said on reaching a section of the road at AAI with the stolen goods, the accused persons and their accomplices spotted a Kia truck with registration number GE 4308-14 from Mile 8 towards Tarkwa.

She said they quickly stopped the truck and hired the driver to convey the items to Tarkwa for a fee of GH¢10.00 per bag.

Inspector Anaman said when the truck got to the access gate of AAI, the security officers on duty stopped them to conduct their usual checks on the vehicle.

In the process, the officers detected that the used carbons were stolen.
They arrested the accused persons while the fifteen others escaped
