Two Die In Gun Battle At Bethlehem In Tema

Armed robbers on Tuesday night attacked a house at Bethlehem at Ashaiman near Tema and killed a resident, Mr Foster Birikorang, while one of the robbers, identified as Amadu Bukari also died and two policemen seriously injured.

The two policemen, whose names were given as Constable Amegago and Lance/Corporal Adjaho received severe gun wounds and were rushed to the Government Hospital. Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Police Public Relations Officer told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday that the Police patrol men had information that some armed robbers were robbing residents of Bethlehem.

He said the policemen rushed to the scene and the armed robbers numbering about seven engaged them in a gun battle leaving the two dead. The armed robbers, he said, left behind four single barrel shot guns, ten live cartridges, and two empty shells.

Meanwhile, the Tema Regional Police Command has appealed to the general public, hospital staff and herbalists to report any suspicious wounded person to the police for arrest
