Two car dealers granted 300 million cedis for stealing

Tema, Aug. 16, GNA- The Tema circuit court ‘A’ on Monday granted a total of 300 million cedis bail with one surety each to two car dealers for stealing a Benz bus valued at 150 million cedis from the Tema port. Nana Boama and Osei Bonsu pleaded not guilty to stealing and dishonestly receiving and will reappear on August 30. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court that sometime in February 2003, complainant’s brother, Mr Kwame Senu shipped a benz bus to cleared at the Tema port.

However, due to delays, the vehicle was affected by rent and was therefore, recommended for auction.

Inspector Otchere said following a petition sent by the importer in 2003 to the Commissioner of CEPS, he was granted an extension of time for the clearance of the bus.

He said the complainant in the process of clearing the bus realised that somebody had cleared the bus and investigations showed that Boama and Bonsu were those who stole the bus from the port.
