Twenty caterers passed out

Kumasi, Aug. 16, GNA – Caterers have been urged to serve their customers with nutritious and balanced diets at all times. They should also honour their tax obligations to help the government raise revenue for development of the country.

Mr Francis Ampadu, Assemblyman for Tafo-Ahenbronum Electoral Area, gave the advice at the graduation of 20 caterers at the Jebric Catering Services at Tafo in the Kumasi metropolis on Monday. He noted that unemployment among the youth has been a major problem in the country and attributed this to the fact that most of the youth lack vocational skills to set up their own businesses. He therefore urged the youth in the area, especially girls to take advantage of the institute and acquire skills that would earn them a living in future.

Mr Ampadu commended the efforts of the management of the institute in the training of more caterers, who could set up their own businesses after the completion of their courses. Mrs Joana Bansah-Dotse, proprietress of the institute, said the institute established in 1998 has so far trained over 40 caterers, who are in gainful employment.

She said the institute has 25 trainees and offers courses including food and nutrition, catering services and decoration. Mrs Bansah-Dotse announced plans for the establishment of a restaurant and appealed to traditional authorities for land for the project.

Mr Kofi Owusu-Ansah, a Kumasi-based businessman, who chaired the function, advised the graduates to be dedicated and honest in the discharge of their services to the public.
