Tsatsu is a hypocrite – Petitioners

A member of the legal team of the petitioners in the recently-ended presidential results challenge trial, Frank Davies, has accused the Lead Counsel of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the same case, Tsatsu Tsikata, of “hypocrisy”.

Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, on Saturday August 31, 2013, accused Justice Anim Yeboah, one of the nine Supreme Court Judges that heard the matter, of allowing his political bias to cloud his judgment.

The former law lecturer said Justice Anim-Yeboah consistently took an opposing stance against the NDC’s arguments and position as far as the case was concerned, from the onset.

According to him, he was not really surprised by Justice Anim Yeboah’s persistent and consistent opposition to the stance of the respondents because he was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President John Agyekum Kufuor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Tsikata expressed his reservations at Justice Anim Yeboah’s conduct when he spoke on TV3’s Hot Issues programme.

Reacting to Mr. Tsikata’s allegation, Mr. Davies, who is also the President of the Greater Accra branch of the Ghana Bar Association, described the accusation as “hypocritical, ridiculous, unfortunate and irresponsible”.

He threatened that the legal team of the petitioners “will take him on” if he does not stop his accusations.

“Some of us will take him on”, he warned.

As far as Mr. Davies is concerned, Mr. Tsikata should have demonstrated maturity in his comments and also appraised himself of the reasons behind the voting pattern of the nine justices in their final verdict, before coming out to make such an allegation.

“He is too clever for what he is doing”, Mr. Davies said, adding that: “He is older than us, but we are matured”.
